چکیده
Landfill leachates are a mixture of high concentration organic and inorganic contaminants need to be appropriately treated due their toxicity severe adverse effects on the environment. Here, we studied treatment landfill leachate through heterogeneous Fenton-like oxidation process using zirconia supported copper catalyst (Cu/ZrO2). Reaction conditions such as pH, amount catalyst, oxidant dose, temperature, reaction time were investigated pollutant abatement discussed. AOS (average state) COS (carbon parameters used for evaluation degree process, obtaining some insight into formation oxidized intermediates (partial oxidation) total (mineralization) during reaction. A two-step enhanced overall performance with an compounds 92% confirming promising activity copper-based liquid waste. Higher catalytic was achieved when following applied: 70 °C, pH 5, 200 mg/L 30 mL/L H2O2 150 min. In addition, durability under optimized verified by repeated cycles.

متن کاملNitrogen Removal from Landfill Leachate by Microalgae
Landfill leachates result from the degradation of solid residues in sanitary landfills, thus presenting a high variability in terms of composition. Normally, these effluents are characterized by high ammoniacal-nitrogen (N-NH₄⁺) concentrations, high chemical oxygen demands and low phosphorus concentrations. The development of effective treatment strategies becomes difficult, posing a serious pr...
متن کاملTreatment of mature landfill leachate by chemical precipitation and Fenton advanced oxidation process
Background: Mature landfill leachate is a complicated mixture which is resistant to biological treatment processes. The treatment of mature landfill leachate by struvite precipitation and Fenton oxidation was the main objective of the current research. Methods: Struvite with the phosphate/ammonia/magnesium molar ratio of 1/1/1.05 was considered during all experiments. Five initial pHs of 3, 4,...
متن کاملRemoval of Organics and Nitrogen from Municipal Landfill Leachate in Two-Stage SBR Reactors
The aim of this study was to investigate efficiency of ammonium nitrogen removal from municipal landfill leachate in activated sludge in two-stage SBR reactors. Treated leachate contains low concentrations of organic substances measured as chemical oxygen demand (COD) − 757 mg O2/dm 3 and high concentrations of ammonium − 362 mgNNH4/dm 3. Nitrification was studied in two parallel, aerated SBR r...
